Malayalam film industry is dominated by super stardom for past few centuries. Mammootty and Mohanlal have obtained an unclaimed crown and never stepped down. Though Suresh Gopi too came to be known by the name super star the position soon declined for he could not make strong position in the industry. Those actors who can perform any role in films with out difficulty are known as super stars and Mammootty and Mohanlal are examples. Mohanlal used to do every role easily where as Mammootty made humor a success only very recently. It was through box office hit film ‘Rajamanikyam’ that Mammootty proved to do comedy roles easily. Suresh Gopi gained the heart of viewers through a single film called ‘Commissioner’ where he performed as an IPS Officer. The trend of super stardom has almost ruined Malayalam films for the admirers of super stars decide the story of the film in which these super stars act. There are Associations and Fans clubs for these super stars. The issue became big with the climax scene of film ’Harikrishnan’s’. As the issue became worse two climax scenes where shot and one in which Mohanlal gains the mind of heroine where shown in places with more Mohanlal fans and in places of Mammooty fans the scene was like he wins the heroine. Now it is like they decide the future of malayalam industry. Thus the time has come for super stars either to step out of the position or this will ruin Malayalam film industry itself.
